Krups XP4600 Silver Art Collection Espresso Machine with Precise Tamp, Stainless Steel/Chrome
VERY poorly made 2 months and now useless We had the same exact thing happen as a previous reviewer with our frothing wand breaking after just a few weeks. In no way shape or form will the steamer wand last as we got this for Christmas and within a few weeks of daily usage we had not one but two of the three little notches break off rendering the frother completely useless. We also had the filter holder handle crack after 2 months and have been using it with the crack until today when it now will not work at all and comes unscrewed as the espresso is coming out.So about 2 1/2 months of daily but VERY careful usage and this entire machine is now useless to us. When I search the krups web site the xp4600 doesn't exist for replacement parts and it looks like similar parts would bring us to over $50 for replacement. Lesson learned never buy a Krups machine as some basic product testing could have easily identified this poor design and cheap material flaws.I also want to point out that when I read another review on here about the cheap fake finish I laughed and thought it was rather petty of a comment. I now see how that fake finish starts to wear off pretty quickly and the machine goes from looking nice to being a sore spot. When this machine was working I would have given it a 4.5/5 as it made great coffee and frothed and heated up the milk very well. However with how poorly it's made you will never get your value out of it unless you literally use it a few times a year.
Krups = Bad Service I learn that my krups expresso machines died because the power module UNDER the water tank and the hose attachment leaked I decide to call Krups for a replacement part. Krups will not sell you replacement parts directly but only redirect to their approved repair partners. I just want the part and I want to do it myself. This is the worst customer service ever and you should alway check the company before you buy something from them. If you don't believe me call the company your self before you buy and ask to purchase a new power module.KrupsPhone 18005265377Monday thru Friday8am to 1100pm EST.
Very impressed by the ease of use and finish of this machine. I recently purchased this machine for my fiance for Christmas. We have been so pleased with the ease of this machine. It took us a few tries to perfect a latte for her. The selftamping mechanism is very efficient and the espresso is very high quality. The steaming wand takes a bit linger the a larger machine of course but is a cinch to clean. Having managed a coffee shop in our home town for a umber of years I thought that I would be unimpressed buy a machine as small as this. After using it I must say that this little guy packs a punch it is easy to clean and looks beautiful on the counter.
The Most Beautiful Espresso Machine Works Great! My Starbucks bill gets high so my husband bought me this machine as a gift. I used to own
great except coffee grinds puck doesn't dry out I've had it almost 1 week & made 10 double shots. The machine is beautiful chrome and stainless w/wood trim compact easy to use heats quickly and cleans up easily. It has made good crema on the coffee. The water reserve tank must be filled after 4 double shots of coffee are made including the steaming of the milk which is no big deal. The machine lets out water internally into the outside tray to cool the machine after you froth your milk but the tray comes right out and is easy to clean.Tips 1Read the manual before using. 2Before making the 1st cup of coffee each day after the machine says it's ready/hot set the machine to make a double cup but don't put the filter with the grinds in. Let the water come out into a cup to heat the machine lines then discard water. Then put your filter with grinds in and tighten as much as it lets you and make your coffee. This will make a hotter cup. 3If you like steamed milk buy a clipon thermometer for your milk frothing pitcher so you know when it's hot enough.
Makes great tasting espresso and lattes even if it's not professional I wanted to replace my recently nonworking Starbucks Sirenamade by Saecoand I did not want to spend more than I spent on the Sirena so this was one of the contenders for consideration. I chose it mostly because it said it had programmable buttons like my Sirena a feature that I lovedand secondly for the looks. I so dislike the looks of typical square machines. I was surprised how lightweight this machine is compared to any other espresso maker I have had. Most of the ones I had in the past weighed around 25 pounds and this was about 10! It's basically all plastic with fake wood and chromed plastic to make it look metal. I was a little dubious about that part.
like my rowenta silver art hi i have a rowenta silver art basically like this one except it doesnt have the 1 cup 2 cup in the head all you have to do in the rowenta is swing the portafilter way to the right as far as it goes this is to tamp the grounds.i like this machines as it is 15bars so it has the pressure to extract the coffee and it heats up quick and the thermoblock that reheats to insure the same consistent heat is maintained while extracting.although not a professional manual espresso machine but a way better machine to start with.use grounds and ese pod is not a problem.
Great espresso but Subpar Manufacturing I would have given this four stars but I had to take one away because our steam wand broke after only two months of light use. We generally don't use the steamer because we want our caffeine fix quickly and don't feel like taking the time to steam milk but after only a few weeks of using the steam wand it broke in half.I'm careful to a fault when using espresso machines because I know how temperamental they can be so the fact that the steam wand broke clean in half while I was cleaning it is totally unacceptable. It's constructed of three pipes nested within each other the innermost and outermost made of metal. However the middle pipe is plastic and I believe that the heat from the steam warped and degraded this plastic which resulted in the wand eventually breaking when I removed it to clean out all the driedup milk gunk.I think Krups is aware of this defect as they told me that they'd redesigned the steam wand. However we have to wait at least 2 months to get the new replacement part because they're on back order which is kind of a crazy amount of time to wait in my opinion. But I've never had to request a new part from a company before so maybe it isn't?Anyway I suppose if you don't need a steamer then this is a really good machine. It's great because it's almost foolproof since the cranking of the portafilter into the filter head removes the necessity for hand tamping which can make or break your espresso shot. However I can't see the justification in spending $300+ for an espresso machine when half of its functionality breaks after only a few weeks of light use.
Finally found my fav espresso machine Finally after endless research trying one of the Nespresso machines and finding it totally useless and sending it back I came across this machine and bought it. I am not disappointed not only does it look amazing it's very easy to use and makes a wonderful latte. Features the automatic tamp from Krups and emptying the filter is a breeze at the push of a button.
