cheaply made but good espresso I've had this machine for over 2 years & when i bought it there were no reviews because it was a new model.here are the major problems i've had1. The steam wand is in fact fragile and badly designed. I've replaced returned it to bed bath and beyond the whole machine once because of the steam wand soon after i bought it. now it's been at least a year since it broke i think the trick is to never take the wand off to clean it once you take it off it's all over.2. The machine often gets clogged and has to be cleaned. i just finally gave it a thorough cleaning by taking all the removable parts off the filter the plastic ejectable part under the metal filter etc. and it's flowing again for now. but there have been many days that i can't make expresso because the machine is clogged and i don't have time to clean it then and there.3. The filter arm the part that you put the coffee in is made of chrome plated steel or it could be nickel plated and the chrome is not holding up to the intense heat and pressure. when i took the filter off to clean it i noticed the chrome is flaking off everywhere. which means it could be getting into the coffee or at the very least be contributing to the filter getting clogged. I think an appliance that uses high heat and high pressure should not use cheap & potentially toxic materials chromeplated steel plastic etc. in these key locations steam wand filter. Instead Krups only seems to use durable materials such as stainless steel for cosmetic reasons. maybe to fool the consumer into thinking the important parts are also stainless steel? buyer beware.i'll continue to use my machine when i can but I'm not impressed and do not recommend it to others.
Love This Machine!! Looks good and makes great espresso. I did my homeworkread all the reviews on all the machines in this price range. I chose this krups machine because of the tamping option. All I do is put in my coffee and move the filter to the right. The machine tamps and then stops when the compression is perfect.

LOVE this machine!!! While having a perfect tamp is important for me I was also looking for fast easy and mess free espresso maker. Krups never disappoints. This machine is super easy to use just fill and turn the holder. I've had this machine for a year and no issues with the steam nozzle. makes delicious espressos and lattes.
first timer This is my first espresso machine and I chose it because I've had many Krups coffee makers in the past. I read that tamping is one of the most important steps in making an espresso and also the most difficult step to get right. This machine takes that step out because the machine tamps the coffee. Great for those of us who make our coffee with only one eye open in the morning! It's easy I'm happy and I'll definitely buy krups again.
Gotta give it 5 I will begin by saying that I owned a Krups before this one for 5 years and it finally went out after my wife dryfired it for several minutes before calling me to see what was the problem. Yeah my old lady ran it without water even as the Krups cried out in pain. I loved that machine. And I love this one!Yeah the steam nozzle is a POS and you need to know this. However I was able to work around it by taking my old frothing tip which can be found by searching krups froth and holding it against the steamer using a pair of pliers. Most folks don't want to do this because you'll look like a fool making coffee in front of friends with a Gerber MulitTool. But whatever I was in the Army and i can roll like that! And besides I only make coffee for myself most of the time. I guess you could go to a parts store like Ace and get something more asthetic than pliers to hold it in place but I'm good.Other than the nozzle everything else is great. It heats up in seconds for steam and blasts the milk up to temp in about 1520 seconds. It's ready to do espresso within seconds of turning the thing on and it ALWAYS comes out with a nice crema. The autotamp actually works and so does the grounds ejector. It cleans up quickly and is much quieter than my old Krups.I gave it 5 stars so you know how I feel. After owning my previous Krups I knew I could deal with a frother tip problem. But I wasn't certain that I could deal with the problems of the other brands priced under $300. If you find one that's perfect in this price range let me know.
get it This one works fine. No vibration no noise. Makes really good coffe. Very nice and good looking one.First I needed some practice to train myself in terms of adjasting a proper amount of coffe and brew time. You can play with it for a while until you get proper coffe for you. Good price for this machine.
Great Espresso Machine!!! This is a great Espresso Machine.It requires frequent maintenance to keep it working at it best. But that effort is worth it because of the espressos and lattes that you can enjoy in your own home. You can buy different types flavors of coffee and enjoy them at any time.
Product was decent customer service is TERRIBLE I purchased this product on 5/22/2011. On 7/22 it was at the repair shop. Today on 9/19 it is still at the repair shop.The Espresso machine made a great cup of coffee while it worked. Unfortunately that was not for very long. After some practice I even got a decent amount of foam when steaming the milk. I think the pump on the unit died because it just lost all pressure.I contacted Krups and they set up the warranty service through one of their facilities. Sent the unit in and kept getting the story that it takes 46 weeks to get it repaired. At 6andahalf weeks I contacted them again and I was told that the repair facility had ordered parts for the unit and they were going to be shipped. I should have the unit back at the end of the next week. That has come and gone and I'm still waiting.I called service again today and the story is the same. I have no idea where my unit is. I would certainly not recommend a Krups product to anyone. As I was filing my BBB complaint I noticed that they have an 'F' rating. I fully understand why.
POOR PRODUCT FOR A REPUTABLE MAKER POOR PRODUCT FOR A REPUTABLE MAKER. THE MACHINE WORKS GREAT IF IT WERE NOT FOR A FAULTY STEAM WAND WHICH HAS BROKEN TWICE IN THREE MONTHS USE. CUSTOMER SERVICE FOR KRUPS WAS VERY RUDE AND CONDESCENDING. APPARENTLY THE STEAM WAND IS BEING REDESIGNED AND BACKORDERED. WE HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO USE THE MACHINE FOR 6 WEEKS NOW AND WE MAY HAVE TO WAIT FOR ANOTHER 2 MONTHS. CUSTOMER SERVICE GAVE ME THE TOUGH LUCK RESPONSE. WILL NOT BUY ANOTHER KRUPS PRODUCT.
