Laroma Espresso Coffee Maker Solid and simple

KABOOM!!! I purchased this stovetop espresso maker because I was trying to get away from using the aluminum Bialetti pots that I have. I became worried about the aluminum leaching into my coffee after the pots became etched and pitted. Unfortunately until I found the Laroma there wasn't anything else around that was available in my area except for the aluminum Bialetti pot.I do like the weight of the Laroma and the comfortable molded handle. It is really easy to clean and diswasher safe the aluminum ones aren't. And you don't have to get out a potholder to save burning your fingers when you remove it from the heat. I don't think it makes as good of a drink as the Bialetti but it was worth the sacrifice to have a stainless pot. What I don't like about this pot well it originally was the price that bothered me. $60 whereas the Bialetti pots are only $2529. Ikea has a stainless pot that is very similar to the Laroma. I didn't pick it up to compare when I was there last because I had already bought the Laroma. But I can tell you it was stainless and considerably less expensive at the time it was $19 vs the $60 I spent. The lid on this particular pot I feel is a bit flimsy too but that isn't a real big issue. However my MAIN problem with this pot is the safety factor. When I bought it I noticed that the threads that connect the water chamber to the top pitcher aren't very substantial. The grooves on the threading aren't very deep and are gently rounded. This worried me because I wondered how the 2 pieces would stay connected under the high internal pressure.
great! I've owned a few stovetop espresso makers over the years and this is my favorite so far cool comfortable rubber handles the stainless steel will not corrode over time like another one I bought which was beautiful but made of brass and eventually rusted. Looks handsome works properly and is easy to clean. Also doesn't use an internal rubber seal like the others I've had which is great because a rubber seal can become a mess and I had one melt on me. I guess this one is precisionmade well enough that it doesn't require one because it works perfectly with no mess or splattering.I didn't have the explosion experience that other commenter mentioned if that happened very likely you need to poke a pin through the steam escape valve in the bottom canister or run the device with just water to clean it out. If that bottom valve is blocked it'll make a mess of any stovetop maker. You may also just have a faulty item.Full disclosure I only paid $20 for this at Macy's they have some great deals in the basement especially over the holidays but I would pay $50 for it. At that price I might start looking at espresso/cappuccino machines instead but for a stovetop maker this one hits the bullseye.
What is that STINKY coating?! I scored this beauty at Macy's for twentynine bucks on a preChristmas sale. I was really thrilled and willing to take all precautions to avoid explosions. BUT when I got it home I found that the stainless innards of the pots are coated with something grayish that stinks to high heaven! I'm taking it back no way am I drinking some potentially toxic plastic? epoxy? teflon? with every cuppa. Epoxy is 50% BisphenylA BpAafter all and if it is teflon then why does it stink? Who knows WHAT that coating is?!! Besides disgusting. After combing reviews of these stovetop espresso pots for literally weeks I found one mentioning that a Veg Vivano sp?beautiful espresso pot also has a coating. Too Bad I love the way they look.*Does anyone know of a stainless stovetop espresso maker that does NOT have a coating?? Please post here I am tracking comments. Hoping to find something by Valentine's day.Laroma gets less than ZERO STARS from me for wrecking good stainless steel with nasty undisclosed coating wasting my time and busting my hopes.
LaRoma is great I've had this maker for two years got it as a gift. It does blowup occassionally and spill over but that's due to a lack of cleaning and maintaining that any devise like this would require after several uses. Having once been a part of commertial customer service I can tell you that the 10% of times this will fail is the 90% it was not cared for. Other than that this makes an excellent coffee depending upon the coffee used and a patient and attentive rate of heating it. I have NEVER tasted anything like a plastic coating leaching into this coffee and I was way ahead early 1980's and still promote it todayof the johnnycomelatelys to banishment of plastics in contact with my or my childrens food and drink. So the claim here is unfounded and unless proved with some other evidence than what is provided I ignore it or chaulk it up to bad cofee grounds and part of their packaging going into the making. Make a responsible call to the manufacturer first before slandering their device.
Weak coffee This stovetop espresso maker makes horrible coffee. The canister within which holds the coffee grounds is too small and so the coffee comes out with little taste.
Solid and simple I was actually testing out a new french press to day just to compare its flavor to this laroma percolator. It was a little shocking that people have had this blow up but I have never had any problems with it. I don't have problems with pressure cookers either. Follow the directions and you will be fine. This might be 6 cups of expresso but it makes between 1012 OZ of regular coffee. With any perculator you need to have a coarse grind on the beans so that you dont have sediment in the coffee. If you read the instructions you are supposed to fill the water BELOW the pressure release valve viewable on the pictureits on the side or yeah you might have problems. sometimes I do and sometimes I dont because i'm trying to pull out every oz of coffee out of it. This also uses the amount of coffee very efficiently so this one hitter uses a little under 4 tablespoons of coffee grinds for a cup.As to any coating or plastic film on it I saw none perhaps it was a demo model they then sold. I got this as a gift and have used it every day for the past 2 years.
Attractive inexpensive copetent coffee Very basic coffee maker that quietly and competently brews a cup of dense flavorful coffee. The stainless sieves have pretty wide bore holes so there is a moderate amount of grounds shot into the coffee. Where they rate this as 6 cup is beyond me as the total volume resulting from a full fill is about 2 oz. Still playing with the grind to figure out the best granularity for this thing. Operation is quiet although the base is so narrow that the unit is best placed toward one edge of a small electric range burner but brews nicely quickly and silently at low to moderate burner setting. Easy to disassemble for cleaning.
A passable coffee maker if you don't mind the occasional explosion This moka pot has a bit of an uneven temperament. Ninetyeight times out of a hundred it'll brew up a very nice espressolike coffee but every so often it will um explode. My wife bought this for me as an upgrade to my Bialetti and I'm beginning to suspect she had an ulterior motive.

Farberware 50124 Yosemite Stainless Percolator Goodbye Keurig

Farberware 50124 Classic Yosemite Stainless Steel Percolator
Farberware 50124 Classic Yosemite Stainless Steel Percolator Read more...

  • Measures 8-1/4 by 6-5/6 by 9 inches
  • Stay-cool synthetic handle; dishwasher safe
  • Sleek percolator brews 4 to 8 cups coffee
  • Permanent filter basket; no messy paper filters needed
  • Made of 18/10 stainless steel polished to mirror-finish

  • OldSchool Wonderful I bought this percolator based on reviews here and price. Great decision! Absolutely nothing fancy..no timer no grind & brew system no sneakacup while brewing no builtin clock. The entire process is firstthinginthemorning calming as you fill with water fill with coffee put together and brew. Included instructions are clear and accurate. Using my electric stove I start on mediumhigh and when the second perc is visible in the clear knob I turn down heat to medium. I then let the coffee perc for 6 minutes and remove from the heat for my perfect cup. This is fine as I prefer a slightly stronger brew. One additional benefit is that since the pour spout is open the kitchen is scented with smell the coffee aromas while brewing. Pour spout directs the coffee into the cup and not on the counter top or down the side of the unit. Off the heat the coffee stays hot for about 30 minutes. Highly recommend this percolator.
A blast to my past nostalgia here I come! I am sipping coffee as I write this that was made with this product. I own a drip a press a Kruerig and now this why?It has nothing to do with making great coffee as I find all but the Kuerig always make me happy but that is a matter for another review. The reason I bought this was my childhood. I am 54 and when I was a kid this was the way everyone made coffee in the morning. I fondly remember the smell as my Grandmother fixed it for her and my Grandfather. I remember it on camping trips and there in lies the real catch. I find as I get older that there are some things that I enjoy simply because of what I remember of them and this is one. I also bought the glass knob for the lid to complete the set up. I makes me smile when I drink this coffee and that is what matters most.So how do you get a good cup? You can buy Melita round filters that fit the bottom of the basket perfectly. I wet it down to complete the seal to the bottom. Often I then use coffee that I coarse grind from just about any bean. I also use some preground coffee. This coffee with be strong so you may want to use a medium grind unless you want really strong black coffee. I set the initial heat at around 78 so I get a quick boil and then turn down to 45 once I get a strong boil. Once it has been perc'ng for about 67 minutes I drop it down to 12 depending on how hot you want to keep the coffee. I prefer 2 as I add creamer and like it to start hotter.Coffee is a personal choice but to be honest when I want to get into max nostalgia I have a dirty little secret I use Folgers as that was the poison of choice for my Grandparents. I buy the 'Black Silk' version and find that made this way I have no complaints. Yes there is better coffee way better coffee though Starbucks has forced even Folgers to up their game. My one complaint is that clean up is complicated by the design as it is hard to completely get water out of the pot due to the deep lip around the top and the way the spout is designed. I can live with that.Ok the Cinnamon Rolls are done time to really drift back in time.
EXACTLY WHAT I WAS LOOKING FOR had been looking for a nice percolator for a while now and was very pleased to find this one .
Beautiful Percolator I bought this as a backup to my electric drip coffee maker because the power goes out a lot in Florida and I can use it on my gas stove. It is beautiful and well made. A great get for the price.
Great coffee I use this twice a day and it works great. Makes a great cup of coffee. Appears to be very durable.
Unbelievably simple old school and it works This throw back delivers 4 mug size cups of very hot and very good tasting coffee. Grind your favorite coffee bean and fill the metal filter with 1 Table spoon of coffee for each mug boil percolate and enjoy. This is way better than a coffee maker. The only better coffee is café de olla. Don't let the price fool you at $19.99 it's a steal. Buy 2. Take one to your favorite relative's house so you can have a good cup of coffee when you visit them.
Absolutely the best there is I've gone through four coffee pots so far this year. My search is finally over.First the bad. Farberware used to be the only coffee maker worth considering until they sold out and cheapened their products with poor materials and bad designs. I really wanted to purchase the Farberware Superfast electric but like most things it isn't what it used to be.Thankfully the stovestop model is welldesigned. The chrome finish looks great and the handle stays cool. It's a slow perc which makes the coffee taste richer and has more flavour. The key feature is the flared base which keeps the heat away from the sides of the pot. My last pot left a burnt taste if left on the stove too long because the sides got too hot.As for the plastic top which everyone complains about stop complaining and purchase
Goodbye Keurig We LOVE this perculatorso much so that we sold our Keurig and are using this only. Just order a new glass top for it right away and you will be delighted with this percolator from day one.
coffee pot If a perfect hot cup of coffee is your goal this coffee pot is the only oneto own. Guests rave about our coffee. It can be stronger or weaker as you like.It gets filled with water add 6 scoops of coffee and perk for 6 minutes. You will never have counter top coffee maker coffee AGAIN!And you can't buy these is stores anynore! People look at you weirdwhen you ask for one if they even know what you are talking about.Just spend $20 for the pot and buy ground coffee and you are good to go.
Solidly built Nice heavily constructed. I use on it my boat and it gets knocked around a bit. Would be nice if it had markings for measurement of water and coffee.

  • Safety boiler cap with built-in valve; filter holder with protective thumb guard
  • Measures 9-3/4 by 7-1/2 by 13-1/4 inches; 1-year limited warranty

  • This item is poorly made About two years ago we purchased one of these Espresso machines and loved it! For two years it faithfully made our coffee. Recently the seals began to fail so we figured it was time to replace it. We purchased this one the same model and threw the other one in the dumpster. We immediately wished we had not thrown it out because it worked better than the new one! The seals on the new one are already leaking. The knob that turns on the steam fell off and it takes 20 minutes for your coffee to drip.
Great little espresso maker I have had this Espresso machine for five months now and still love it! I use it every day and save a ton of money making my own lattes. Also I save on calories because I control how much sugar I add. I found a Pumpkin spice latte recipe online and now I can have them year round as opposed to the seasonal offerings of coffee shops.
Espresso Review The first machine we recieved was broken. The steam spout would turn on even when the option wasn't selected. Called the company and they handled it great. SShipped it back for a brand new one! The second machine works amazing. Brews strong espresso quickly with little work. Easy clean up and set up. The only issue i have is the position of the steam spout. It is hard to get deeper into milk when heating it because of a short down stem. also when on a flat surface the frothing pitcher has to be tipped in order to get under steam spout. Which isnt difficult just something to complain about. I would reccomend this for someone who would like to use it once in ahwile.
Capresso 303.01 4Cup Espresso and Cappuccino Machine Salutations everyoneI bought the Capresso 303.01 4Cup Espresso and Cappuccino Machine machine almost 3 months ago now through Amazon and have tested it sufficiently to give my expert opinion at last. First of all I was taught a lot about coffee by a certified master who actually went to College for coffee studies didn't know there was such a thing and worked under her at Gloria Jean's Coffee Bean for quite a long while back in the 90's so I know how to make a REALLY GOOD Cup of jo. I also have many Italian contacts of which virtually all of them are coffee connoisseurs. I have Cappuccino recipes that even those who DesPISE coffee love or at least enjoy and can thereby get almost anyone to at least try a cupper. Now that this understanding is out of the way let's talk shop. The budget was low and I was desperate for an espresso/cappuccino machine so after several months of searching and trying to save for a good machine I had to bite the bullet and boy what a nibble. This model from Capresso is a very nice Looking machine and is decently made but only 4 bars of pressure?? Come on now any good cup is made 68 bars or actually even better 10 bars of pressure.. All this machine does is made decent espresso and only if you stop the brew part way through and save the Crème. The frothing attachment is decent save that the rubber piece is a Horrible Joke that sprays milk everywhere and that the hole in the pipe is too small and had to be widened just a bit in order to even get a proper froth without the bacteria trap of rubber ridiculousness they call a frothing attachment. This machine cuts off just as it begins to get hot enough to make coffee thus keeps you from getting a good brew. It is little more than a glorified auto drip machine to me and I am very disappointed and feel that my money was almost totally wasted except for the fact the machine is at least what it is. Capresso should be TOTALLY Embarrassed about selling this neightohunkofuselessjunk. It sure does heat up quickly but it also shuts off just as fast and right in the middle of the best part of the brew.As with all machines of this type and build you must froth your milk first and then do a bit later toward the end of the brew to keep the milk moving.
Bad coffee broke too soon. This was another try at a lowend machine but a mistake. We had bought a better one that died within a few weeks so went back to a cheaper one but the coffee never tasted any good and now after less than 6 months the steamer no longer works. As my grandmother used to say cheap is cheap.
A good machine overall I have been using the machine for about a month and have had no issues.Pros 1. Cost Relatively inexpensive versus the cost of buying Starbucks everyday 2. Quick Takes about 5 minutes to make a coffee start to finish including clean up. 3. Simple Easy to setup use and clean 4. Repeatable Consistent results each time I use it. You will need to get acclimated to it but it will only take a few practice tries.Cons / Quirks 1. Put the slider on steam and let it heat up until you hear the water bubbling inside. You can then slide over to the espresso setting to pull a shot. I found that there is a burnt taste if you let the water heat up and drip through the coffee for an extended period of time. 2. Make sure you put enough water in the tank. Otherwise you will be waiting for the machine to cool to get a coffee. DO NOT try to take the top off before it has cooled trust me.Remember that you will need to grind the coffee beforehand and need to purchase a pitcher for frothing. If you use a tamper don't go crazy with it. The tighter you pack the grinds the longer it takes to pull a shot and you can get a burnt coffee taste.
Worked for less than a month This product worked great when I first got it. It does not brew the espresso as hot as I would like it and it takes a long time to steam milk but for the price it was great. Unfortunately after about 34 weeks about 1012 uses the steam wand gave out. Hardly any steam at all comes out. This seems to be consistent with some of the other reviews I read.
not working at all thuis machine look good but my was not keeping the temperature for that reason i send a back well maybe because i bought in the warehouse used.
Nice consumer machine! This thing works great! The only issue I have is that the steamer doesn't work as well as the steamers on commercial machines do. I wish it didn't take so long to brew and steam one latte but it is definitely awesome for a $50 machine! I haven't had any problems with it.
Makes a weak espresso. I bought this machine to replace the now unavailable Krups Espresso Bravo Model #87142 we have been using daily for the last decade buying the last two out of three we have owned at a yard sale and on eBay. Using the same weight of beans ground by the same grinder the Capresso machine even at the highest strength setting makes a much weaker espresso. The filters appear identical though it's hard to gauge the filter hole diameter by simple observation and I have not yet checked the water temperature on the Capresso. Frothing is good and I like not having to retighten the water reservoir which would leak steam on the Krups machine as it heated.Besides the weak espresso I don't care for the Capresso's nonstandard carafe shape which is tapered at the bottom as is the Capresso's receptacle niche preventing the use of my collection of spare untapered fourcup carafes.

  • Heats water quickly to provide hot water on demand
  • Powerful 15 bar Italian Pump
  • Removable water reservoir

  • Disappointed with ground espresso We bought this product based on the Melitta name and the enthusiastic reviews even though there were just a couple of them. We also liked the fact that it was designed for both pods and ground espresso and based one review it seems to work well with pods. The unit is also easy to operate and clean.Using ground espresso however the result was much weaker than we got with our old fading Krups using the same coffee. We followed the instructions closely and also tried different coffee and water ratios. We then sent very specific questions to the support team at Hamilton Beach from their web site and received no response. We appreciate how Amazon took this back with no effort other than cleaning and repacking on our part. We will continue to make Amazon our seller of choice.
Love this machine!! This was the third espresso maker that I purchased and I love it!! I make three or four shots each day using the Starbucks pods and am VERY happy. Love the slide and lock mechanism.
great!!!! I got this espresso maker for Christmas this year after getting hooked on latte's. with this maker i have been able to match what i was getting at a coffee house. it took some practice but i figured it out. i haven't tried it with the pods yet but grounds work just fine!!! Rapid Stainless Stovetop Coffee Percolator Best "Made In China" Percolator One Can Probably Get

Rapid Brew Stainless Steel Stovetop Coffee Percolator, 2-12 cup Read more...

  • Stovetop coffee percolator
  • Glass cover knob; Permawood handle
  • Heavy gauge 18/8 stainless steel
  • Non-electric; great for camping
  • Traditional perking process allows exact brew strength control

  • Solid pot with wooden handle This is a lightweight yet solid percolating coffee pot with a sturdy wooden handle. We started using it on our gas stove when we lost electricity during the hurricane and decided we liked percolated coffee so much better than our auto drip plug in one. I highly recommend this model.
wouldn't perk with only 2 cups this coffee pot got here in a timely fashion. makes a nice coffee. so far the only negative is that it won't perk with only 2 cups of water. i usually grind and make my coffee when i drink it and with this i have to brew 4 cups for it to perk. i just started using it so after i have used it awhile..i'll be able to evaluate it a bit better.
SS Percolator Review I received this percolator from a friend because I admired his old fashioned percolator and loved the taste of the coffee. This percolator makes great cofffe however the construction is cheap and the unit did not hold up.The hinge to the cover is thin metal and has a tendency to bend. The lid fit is OK but you have to hold on to the lid to pour the second half of the pot or else the basket tends to rattle and the lid tends to lift. The worst part is the cheap and inadquate two tiny spot welds of the handle to the body of the percolator. The weld failed on the top of the handle and the unit is now in the trash. The price of the unit is high in relationship to its quality. I would not recommend this unit to anyone.
Throwback To a Simpler Era But you have to be vigilant! I enjoy delicious flavorful coffee I'd rather have none at all than drink Yuban or Taster's Choice or other grocery store brands like that.I've also enjoyed trying different methods to brew coffee. Drip french press stovetop espresso and now the stovetop percolator.I've had the percolator for 6 months now and it's taken me a while to get it just right and not burn the coffee. I've incorporated online tips from other users + experience to come up with this NOTE I have a 1950s electric stove very distinct coils turn bright red* I turn the burner on HIGH place the the percolator on the burner* Set a timer to 12 minutes.
LOVE IT!!! I remember as a kid going to a friend of ours house a little old lady. She had one of these. Her house always smelled so good. Now mine smells the same way!! I am so glad I bought this pot.
Almost good PositivesThis coffee maker has no plastic parts which can be poisonous. It appears to be made of chromium steel. A very strong magnet was able to stick to all of the metal parts except for the percolator tube. I was afraid it might be aluminum so I partially submerged it into bleach for an hour and I didn't find any corrosion. If you submerge half a piece of aluminum foil into bleach for an hour you'll see it has corroded. The percolator tube might be nickel chromium steel which isn't magnetic. I wish there was an easy way to determine what type of metal something is made of.Negatives1. Made in China. I'll have to test it for lead.2. The lid will swing open while you're pouring your coffee. This is a major design flaw. The glass lid is really hot. If you try to use it to hold the lid shut while you're pouring coffee you'll get burned. You'll either have to hold it shut with a cloth or waste some coffee and not tip the pot over enough for the lid to open.I'm giving it 3 stars because it appears to be nontoxic. No plastic or aluminum.
LOVE IT!!! I absolutely love my new Rapid Brew Stainless Steel Stovetop Coffee Percolator. This is the way my mother used to make coffee and what I used when I first got married 40 yrs. ago. From there to the electric percolator and finally to the electric automatic drip coffee maker. When my coffee maker recently broke I decided to buy a Hamilton Beach cranberry color model here at Amazon which I will review also. But when I saw this percolator it reminded me of the delicious smell of fresh brewing coffee in the morning.and I had to go for it also. Therefore I ended buying the coffee maker and the percolator at the same time. I have made percolated coffee everyday since I got it about 10 days ago. My husband loves it. Yes it takes longer but it's worth it. It takes 7 to 8 minutes to start percolating with your heat on high. Then you turn it down to medium low or low and allow to percolate a minute per cup. Look at the glass dome and see if it's as dark as you want it. My mother never looked at the time. She just looked at the color of the coffee percolating in the glass dome. It always turned out perfect. The lid is attached and I think this is a very nice feature to have. I will always use my percolator from now on but still use the coffe maker when I have company and/or for a big crowd. Glad I got this percolator. I recommend it if you enjoy fresh brewed coffee.
Stem can't be stainless steel I've had this pot for about a year now and there's no way the inner stem is stainless steel. It's as black as the coffee itself and there's nothing I can do to rejuvenate it. The color is soaked right in to the 'metal'. I strongly suspect aluminum which infuriates me because I was looking for something that wasn't going to poison me like the BPA in plastic models. Not only that but it's made in China and we all know what that probably means. Further the lid is rather illfitting as other reviewers have mentioned. Finally the inside isn't smooth. It's also now black as pitch so I'm not sure what that means. I've tried dishwashing it scrubbing it with baking soda using those pot scrubbers on it nothing has even dented the color. So what started out as a good idea has dissolved into another search for a good quality USAmade product. If anyone has found one I'd love to know about it.
Best Made In China Percolator One Can Probably Get My 2nd purchase in a year. Was very happy with my first Rapid Brew 'til about 1 week ago. Forgot the pot was on the stove until it only had about 3 of water left in it. The thin layer of 18/8 stainless steel finish on the bottom of the pot had come off exposing the metal that was beneath the stainless steel. I've had 18/10 fry pans go through MUCH worse that cleaned up well and today are in good condition and still in use 8 years later.
Great pot and oh that aroma! I just received this pot after the sudden death of my Farberware Superfast Electric percolator. I moved to a percolator about two years ago when I'd finally had it with the succession of drip makers I'd trashed after only months of working properly. Needless to say I rediscovered the joy of perked coffee! Your parents/grandparents were right there's nothing like it! Alas the Farberware perc lasted less than two years of daily use until the heating element quit very disappointed in Farberware. Since the electric percs are pretty expensive relative to their apparent useful life I decided to retrogress even further and go for a stovetop model this time. Yes it's a little more work and patience on the stovetop perc. But oh the coffee and the unmatchable aroma that fills the kitchen every morning! This is the way to start a day.I researched pretty extensively for a solid wellmade pot and I'm quite satisfied with this purchase. The pot is heavy duty and will likely last for years if minimal care is taken. I like the glass perc top although I did buy the Fitzall replacement top to have on hand just in case. It fits well and doesn't leak. I love the fact that there are no plastic parts at all. The outside of the pot is attractive and I actually like the chubby squat style which fits perfectly on the small burner of my glasstop. The filter basket cover and pump are solid and well made. The wooden handle stays cool. Everything is lined up properly. I'm not sure what that one previous negative poster was on about there is nothing wrong with the quality of the workmanship here. Yes I would prefer that the pot was made in the U.S. but almost nothing is these days.I recommend this pot without reservation. If you buy one just be patient in learning the art. It's not hard and it's worth the trouble. Use water that's fresh and cold. Use enough coffee preferably coarsely ground but anything in a pinch a Tbs. per cup. I use 4 well rounded coffee scoops each scoop is 2 Tbs for the 8 cup mark. Turn your burner on high until you see the first perk this can take up to ten minutes if you're starting with very cold water.

  • Decanter not included
  • All stainless steel construction
  • Brews 3.8-gallon (14.4-liters) of perfect coffee per hour
  • SplashGard funnel de?ects hot liquids away from the hand

  • I've had mine since 1998! Still going strong. Tired of burning through cheapie pkastic drip coffee makers? I was. This is greatresturant coffee anytime. It works as well today 2011 as it did when I took it out of the box! It keeps the water inside hot by reheating it periodically. Don't worry you'll never notice it on your electric bill. Well made built to last. The VP17 is made to fit under wall mounted kitchen cabinets. It comes with plastic pitcher for water. I use about 1/4 of the pitcher for one cup mug of coffee and about 2 scoops of ground coffee.
commercial quality I was replacing my 'home' coffee maker every couple of years for different reasons. The reservoir and heater are simple the basket to hold ground coffee the pot to catch the brewed coffee were all simple enough. Something happens to any of those components there are no replacement parts available throw it away and buy another. I still have four carafes someplace. So many of the home consumer coffee makers whether $20 or $100 go out of style and manufacture very quick. If you find one you like and need to replace it there's a good chance you cannot get the same one after a year or two. Golly I said not exactly no more consumer coffee makers for me.I found a used VP171. It was missing a spray head carafes and filter basket. I scrubbed it clean replaced the missing items for less than $25. A few pots run through with some Brew Rite and white vinegar along with the snake and it was good as new. I got a schematic and list of all the parts. All the parts are available for replacement too. The design has not changed for years save for decals and the pourover lid. Oh mine does have an On/Off switch in the back.I use a quartercup measuring cup as my scoop. Three 'fat' scoops is what I use when brewing Dunkin Donut coffee whether the ground or whole bean version. I have used other brands of coffee off the shelf stuff from the grocery stores and pricier gourmet mixes. The canned coffees are disappointing keeping some for justincase is the only reason I have any of it. I use a gallon water jug with two fill lines drawn one for a pot of water and the second is enough for a pot of coffee and the extra cup or so that is held by the grounds. The town water is treated so I use Brita filtered water to keep out that swimming pool effect. The VP17 pourover delivers consistent hot well brewed coffee. I pour in the water and three minutes later I have what I want. Usually three or four pots of coffee are made daily here. To minimize waste or stale coffee I use a thermal carafe to keep it hot/viable for hours.
Bunn Coffee Brewer I can't really comment on the quality of the coffee this machine makes as someone I know purchased this thing for their home. But they made a trial batch and it seemed to be very good. The instructions are mildly confusing as there is no off switch. The way this machine works is that you leave it *unplugged* the first time you fill it. You fill it with 2 & 1/2 carafes of cold water. 1/2 will spill out as per the instructions. *Then* you plug it in. When you're ready to make coffee setup your grounds filter and whatnot. Then pour a carafe of cold water into the top. Put your empty carafe on the warmer plate really fast and water will flow out almost immediately the coffee is done in a couple of minutes it's really fast. The reason there is no ON or OFF switch because the initial reservoir is kept warm in the machine at all times and the machine just sits there 24/7 happily keeping the reservoir water warm until you're ready to use it. When you put a fresh carafe of cold water in the unit the cold water is mixed with the rest of the water in the tank. As the tank can only store 2 carafes of water the coffee maker is activated when it senses that the water temp has dropped or displaced or something the water is then reheated to the proper temperature and it just makes coffee. The cold water is the switch to make coffee. I have no idea if you can make less than 1 carafe of coffee. The warmer plate switch red switch does not need to be on to make coffee as it seems to work independently of the coffee making part. ie It's just a switch for the warming plate. That's all it does.
Bunn Coffee Brewer I purchased this coffee brewer for the office. We previously bought the $99.00 Bunn's from various shopping centers and they just didn't last and had overflow problems regularly. Since purchasing this one I have not heard any complaints and everyone in the office thinks it's absolutly wonderful.I gave it 4 stars mainly because we have only had it for a month.
No Pot??? This product makes terrific coffee and is easy to clean and care for. It's all stainless parts are what enticed us to this pricey coffee maker. Guess what? For $250.
commercial machine lasts forever I have had this unit since 1997 it should last forever. We use it for making iced tea and coffee at least once but mostly twice a day.We have it on a $15.00 appliance timer so the water is not heated between 10pm and 6am it only takes15 mins to heat up the tank if it is off I make coffee at 630am it takes 5 minsto make a pot I can make as little as 4 cups then I turn it off till the evening whenwe make tea. I got tired of buying the $20 coffee pots that only last a year.
Made In America. Made to last! It's expensive. It stays on all the time but it will be the last coffee maker your will ever buy. I purchased a bigger model for the office and made the mistake of ordering the Plastic/metal pots for that product. They are hard to clean though hard to break. With this product for home I purchased glass pots. I would recommend the glass pots for this product. They are well made of treated glass and made in Germany. If you break them it's easy to order another. They are much easier to clean and safe to put in the dishwasher. I Got two pots for insurance.Hard waterno problem the maker comes with a root rooter device to ream out the stainless steel tubing.Made in the USA! Made to last.

  • Makes three 2-ounce servings

  • gift I am very pleased with the delivery which was ahead of schedule. Since this was a gift it worked out well. The one who received the Bialetti gives it high marks and is delighted.
Classic Classic design great craftsmanship and simple but perfect functionality are the trademarks of Bialetti.
So easy and good A friend turned me on to this machine and now I'm totally addicted! I was paying $2 for my Americano down the streetnow I can make it with ease in my kitchen! This is a super easy tool to use and to clean! Its also fun to play around with different recipes. Try adding a teaspoon to a half of a cup of warm milk and froth.then add espresso.
Better than I expected! I like strong dark coffee and this pot delivers for me everyday since I purchased it. I stopped going to my favorite coffee shop due to the rising gas prices. I was spending rough estimate about 20.00 per week includes tip on espresso type drinks. I purchased this pot on Amazon along with a hand milk frother voila! Fresh brewed espresso type coffee every morning with freshly frothed milk. I want to graduate up to a bigger pot at some point but this one works beautifully for now.BTW follow the directions down to the word.
Bialetti Moka Express 3 Cup Espresso Maker Best Deal for the price. I grew up with an Italian father who woke up and went to bed drinking Espresso from a Bialetti Moka so the great taste and ease of use was no surprise however over the past couple of years I was using a low end Krups Pump Driven Espresso i.e. between $60$80 model. I immediately noticed a substantial difference in taste. The Moka Espresso was a much richer tasting Espresso plus the prep and clean up were much easier. Much less to deal with and much faster delivery.
couldn't live without it! We've actually got two this size gives you about threequarters of a mug of powerful coffee and the sixcup serves two one teeny espresso cup isn't enough I find!Makes gorgeous strong coffee I recommend Lavazza powder for a great result. Doesn't have the 'crema' that you get with a proper espresso machine but it's so quick and easy to stick on the hob.Further to another reviewer it DOES acquire a sort of grey patina inside with use but we don't worry just rinse out with water it doesn't affect the flavor at all.Anyone who loves coffee but doesn't want the hassle and expense of a machine should go for one of these. About a million times more potent than those useless 'plunge' type coffee jugs.PS The design features a rubber ring seal inside. Over the years this can slowly perish causing slight coffee seepage round the middle but it is possible to buy spares at negligible cost.
Small. Convenient. Cute. I've only given this four stars because the product description says it's a 3 Cup Espresso maker. Well one cup is by definition 8 fluid oz. I know I knowespresso doesn't follow that rule. But the 3cup capacity of this little appliance barely makes it to the halfway mark on a regular coffee cup.Still it makes a fine tasting brew it's quick and very easy to clean up.
We love it This is a simple but effective little machine. Load it up put it on a burner on high for 7 minutes we have an electric rangeand coffee is made. Then a quick hot rinse and air dry. I change the consistency of the coffee by changing the grind and bean. So far I have used espresso grind several times and have not had any issues. As other reviewers have noted the handle is not particularly stout so we never use it to leverage the base off the pitcher.
excellent 3 cup espresso maker Does the trick but let it season!! it took about 78 cups to taste righti actually feel like I am in Italy againokay not really.but with the right espresso..it tastes like its from Italy!! Which means it taste perfect!! My favorite blend to use is Kimbo Espresso Napoletanofill the cup do not pack it just fill till full tap any excess down screw on the bottom and the top and there you go..
Just like the one I owned in Italy! Wonderful little espresso maker far superior to any other. It's identical to the one I used when I lived in Italy and produces the same quality espresso. I may just order another.

  • Electric coffee grinder grinds 4 to 12 cups for precision brewing

  • Chamber maid cleaning system; bowl scraper disLodges coffee from grinding area
  • Removable, dishwasher-safe grinding chamber; cord storage
  • 3 Grind settings; wide upper collar; flip-top lid for mess-free filling and emptying

  • Meets my high stands after testing many others This is a great grinder. And I've tested my fair share I have practically created a new category of kitchen gadgets at my local thrift shop with all the grinders I've bought and discarded. The most important thing is that this machine will grind beans fine meaning very small and consistently. Amazingly there are many grinders that don't.
At Least We Had 4 Days Of Coffee We bought this item at our neighborhood Walmart which should say something right there about 5 days ago on April 11 2012. It worked well enough albeit a bit loud but how quiet can a coffee grinder get anyway? It functioned within it's normal daily parameters and we were very happy with it until today.I was woken up by my husband this morning who had to bare the bad news to me without getting himself killed The coffee grinder doesn't work. What do you mean 'it doesn't work'?It doesn't turn on.I rolled out of bed and stomped to the kitchen and to my dismay the coffee grinder indeed did not turn on. I tried multiple outlets in the house nothing. I tried opening up the base no significant findings. I even tried the caveman approach and hit it against the counter zilch.I did not save my Walmart receipt.Lesson learned.
The Best Bang for your Buck! If you are looking for a good grinder with no maintainance other than washing it out after each grinding than this machine is perfect. I just purchased my second grinder in 18 months. The first unit still works well but I found a great used unit on Amazon Prime for a great price so I am never without a back up. Thanks Big A.
No need for coffee shops Why pay several dollars a cup for premium coffee at the coffee shops? This simple to use inexpensive little grinder delivers a superior cup of coffee right in the comfort of your home. I enthusiastically recommend it to anyone who appreciates a good morning brew.
Good but doesn't completely grind Maybe the problem is just in expecting it to grind like a professional one. In my Mr. Coffee drip coffee pot even grinding it on fine does not completely grind but in the end analysis I guess I can't expect perfection nor it doesn't affect the taste of the final product.
Waiting for it to die This grinder was a gift from my kind brotherinlaw who tried and failed to fix my 20yearold Bosch a few years ago. It exaggerates the flaws of that old workhorse and adds more to the list.Pros*faster than grinding by handCons*leaves more large chunks and dust than other blade grinders I've used*timed grinding feature is absurd and useless for me*chamber has moveable plastic ribs the Chamber Maid feature that catch and hold powdery grounds and so are worse than useless as a cleaning featurethey broke off anyway*even noisier than others I've usedSo all in all I've found it to be an inelegant needlessly complex and noisy tool that fails to do a simple job acceptably.
Horrible product and could have chopped my finger off! I just purchased this today and was anxious to use it.1st No instructions but figured it was pretty easy since I've owned other grinders before.2nd Set the cups and grind medium and hit the push on button which I needed to hold in order for it to keep working. I thought it was supposed to grind and shut off automatically to whichever setting I put it.3rd The next time I plugged it in without the top on and the thing shot coffee all over my kitchen! It immediately started upon plugging it in and the plastic top with the on button wasn't even on!I am taking this product back to WalMart ASAP and also calling the company on it.
Nice features but do not buy I purchased this unit on 31 Jan 2012 at a local Target store. It's a nice product with auto shutoff and easyclean grinding chamber. However after about 20 uses it abruptly shut off only 5 seconds into its usual 15second grind. The manual's troubleshooting section suggests that the thermal fuse is broken from an overheated motor and states that the only recourse is authorized Sunbeam service center. Although the unit has a 1year warranty for a $20 item it's just not worth the time to pursue warranty service. So I searched online in vain for DIY repair instructions. Turns out a lot of people have run into this same failure. Then I decided that for the benefit of others who might be tempted to do their own repair I'd sacrifice my unit and post my findings here. This failure occurred when the motor hadn't been running for long and the base was not warm to the touch. So I believe the manufacturer has specified an insufficient fuse and/or should redesign the unit with a circuit breaker or automaticreset fuse. Here goes with the technical repair info You open the unit from the TOP not the obviouslooking plastic cover on the bottom. There are 3 Phillipshead screws hidden underneath plastic caps located in wells around the inside perimeter of the bowl seen when you take the grinding chamber off. To get those caps out you need to whack them sideways with hammer and screwdriver from the side closest to the center forcing them outward and up. Obviously the manufacturer never intended them to be removed and never considered the possibility that blown fuses could aggravate consumers.
Not Great Gave it 3 stars only because it was inexpensive and it would do OK for espresso only. The problems the automatic control is useless unless you are making espresso. It will grind everything at every setting into a nice fine powder not good for drip makers and certainly bad for presses. I want press coffee so I tried using manual control to stop and start the blades even pulsing a bit to try to get good distribution of consistently sized grains. There was nothing I could do to get this. Every time there was a distribution of fine powder along with big chunks. Actually kind of par for the course with blade grinders but I was expecting more with all the fancy controls. Just a blade grinder and not bad for the price if you prefer espresso.
Too many parts inside cup.Coffee gets stuck. This silly grinder has too many parts inside the cup. The parts are supposed to help clean out the cup. Instead they actually help to hold coffee grounds in the cup. The lid even holds grounds. There are way too many contours in the cup. It cannot possibly be cleaned out. At all. Also you actually have to stand there and hold a button down to operate the grinder. You can't walk away and get your lunch ready. You can't do anything if it would require you to walk away from the grinder. How is this a good idea? Why in the world can't they have a switch that you turn on and walk away? It could turn itself off automatically We know this because that's what it does now It turns itself off automatically.Summary Pros Cheap. <$20 Cons Does not empty completely. Lots of extra plastic parts. User has to stand by it and hold button down to operate.

  • Flip-up top and side-pour spout provide added convenience
  • Stovetop brewer makes 3 2-ounce cups of espresso in just 4 to 5 minutes
  • Wash by hand with warm soapy water and rinse clean; made in Italy
  • Measures 4-1/4 by 6-1/2 inches
  • Made of durable polished aluminum in a unique octagon shape

  • Handles will melt off even if you're careful I have a gas stove I was careful and offset the pot so the handle was not over the open flame and the handle still melted off after a week. It is VERY small 3 cup really means 3 shots. And you have to let it cool down before you can use it again. I am online looking for something different right now. Maybe an all metal version or possibly a stand alone electric version.
Excellent little espresso maker I bought this item after having several espresso makers both on the cheaper end under $75 that broke down after a year or two. I chose this since I figured there is no way it could break down. I mainly use this to make hot mochas in the morning. I have been really pleased with the quality of the coffee that it makes. I feel like my old espresso machines did better at making espresso with stronger flavor but this maker consistently produces very highquality smooth espresso.
Good This espresso maker had good reviews so I bought it in the 3cup size but I was concerned it might have a loud whistle like a friend's 3cup espresso maker. Fortunately that's not a problem and it worked quite well. He must have a different kind. It was quiet and didn't splash out the top. I detected a slight rubber smell on opening the device presumably from the gasket but it didn't seem to affect the coffee and wasn't offensive. This seems wellmade particularly for the price and I'm hoping it continues to serve well. Bialetti's popularity seems to help when it comes to getting spare parts too like extra gaskets. The basket seems to hold about 2 coffee scoops worth or about 34 tablespoons?. I love Illy espresso so that's what I'm using with it about $15/can in a local grocery store.
Do not buy It is not worth the $20 or what ever the current price may be. It gives a coffee plus metallic taste. It discolored after the first wash / use. I bought this particular one because there were way more positive reviews than negative ones but don't underestimate a negative review. You get what you pay for.
First Lemon From Bialetti 12Cup Version We have 3cup and 6cup versions of this great coffee maker and decided it is time to move to a larger version for big dinners. We tried low med high heat settings. We also tried fine medium and coarse grinds. With no luck the coffee maker was unable to make the steam go through the grounds and into the top of coffee maker. Really wanted to like this but perhaps we received a lemon. Beware is all.
Works great Came quickly. It's a little smaller than expected but that's fine. Makes a good strong brew! The only thing to watch out for is I noticed mine had quite a bit of machine oil on it around the threads. So be sure to wash it before using.
Coffee This is the best coffee maker ever great for stove top camping burner it's a great start to my morning.
Oh Bialetti.how things have changed. I have used a Bialetti 12cup every morning for the past 10 years until it died. I replaced every part possible and still no luck. Suffice it to say that I had mastered all the elements of a perfect cup of espresso/coffee and now none of my fine tuning tricks worked. After months of frustration and trouble shooting I gave in and bought another one. I'm not sure what has changed but I can't get a good cup of nothing out of this. Like really really bad. again I am not a novice. I know how to get an incredible cup out of this thingSo with lots of regret I have to send it back and begin a research project to see what my next espresso provider will be. It saddens me because I have loved my stovetop for so long. But I am moving on.
Excellent coffee maker device I have ever used I live in Vietnam where we Vietnamese use different style of coffee maker aka. coffee filter. Moka Express helps to extract all the coffee essence and I can enjoy the hot coffee cup. Excellent!!!Vietnamese traditional coffee maker offers the warm coffee. It does not use boiled water so it brings the smell of roasted coffee much. If I'm the modern hardworking person I prefer the Moka Express. But I would choose the traditional device If I were 40s and were not rush to work.
Not Very Durable This makes good coffee but after 17 months of use about once a day the water won't move out of the lower portion indicating a malfunctioning valve. The cost for a replacement valve is $10 + $5 postage almost the cost of a whole brand new one. I really think it should last longer.
