Coffee Tastes like plastic We had an old Krups model that we liked and used for several years. When it broke we went with this next gen model. Unfortunately the coffee has a strong plastic taste when brewed. It tastes chemical and is completely undrinkable. We tried rinsing it over a dozen times. We ran vinegar solution through it. Nothing worked. I called Krups and they were frankly unfriendly and unhelpful. I'm just going to return it to amazon and get another model. Disappointing.
Good product Makes great coffee. Only a 10 cup carafe but very well made. Making espresso and foaming milk has been a learning experience. It takes such little water to make but there is usually some water left over in the reservoir so you have to make adjustments to your measurements. I've let the steam run out in an empty cup to allow the reservoir to empty completely. All in all a great product for the price.
Great coffeemaker and love the expressosss! This is the best coffeemaker i have ever purchased.
Coming back for seconds I purchased this combo machine on base in 2005. As I sit here surfing the web and sipping on my mocha I wonder what I'd ever do if my machine broke. So I decided to see if they still make these things and if there are any updated models. I have been vey pleased with my machine and do use it daily. I will either make iced coffee or frapps in the summer or mochas and hot coffee in the winter. As most people who would be reading these reviews I LOVE coffee. I lament to anyone who chooses to discuss the price of a cup coffee. With my Krups machine I save so much money being able to do it at home. I had a coworker chide me over spending $15 on a pound of coffee. You should of saw his face when I explained how spending the $15 saved me $75 a month by making it myself. He doesn't drink coffee but does like to knock back beers like water. On to the machine. I think the machine makes excellent coffee. You have to consider the quality of what you are brewing when it was ground temperature and size of grinds and packing pressure of the espresso cup. But this is all trial and error kinda like cooking. Some days my coffee is better than others because I don't measure and may miscalculate my amounts. Quite honestly I hardly ever used the steamer. I usually microwave the milk and may steam after its warmed while the espresso is finishing off. if that isn't acceptable to you just put more water in the reservoir and you will learn to know when you should start steaming. Again this is about timing. Steam also depends on the type of milk you used. I used to drink nonfat and that would be really foamy. I also think it's about how long you steam. The coffee carafe is really durable and makes a lot of coffee. In summers I'll brew strong coffee and freeze it into ice cubes add milk and flavoring to make frapps. Also the coffee won't brew without the carafe in place which is a bonus. The two cons are the quality of the espresso carafe and filter holder. I've had to replace them once in five years and am needing to replace them now. The filer holder has a crack in the plastic handle and the carafe's handle has fell off. I've been using a 1 cup mason jar instead. I don't really mind this because the maintenance cost of something used daily is what.maybe $20 bucks over the last 3 years which breaks down to a tenth of a cent per day of use.I'm considering buying an extra machine in case this one breaks and they are no longer available and pretty soon we may be bicoastal so I'll have one for both locations. Also don't forget to clean the machine once in a while.
Works Great! This machine works like any coffee machine should right out of the box no mess no fuss.I originally bought the
Dissapointment I purchased the Krupps combo Espresso/Coffee maker for Husband as a gift.It made the worst coffee I have had in a long time. I've used same brandcoffee for years but it tasted like coffee is old. Espresso wasn't muchbetter. To bad it is a nice looking coffee maker.
Disappointed Krups Fan We had a Krups Espresso/Coffee maker before and it lasted close to 15 years before it started sputtering profusely when making standard coffee. We were very happy with it so decided to order this as a replacement. Unfortunately I didn't read the reviews ahead of time.
Mediocre I bought this product about 3 weeks ago. The coffee is delicious! Its really easy to operate too. However the steam wand's function entirely stopped after 3 weeks. I called Krups to troubleshoot it and she told me I would have to return the product and that there was no hope that it would fix itself. Basically this machine is a gimmick. The coffee maker is durable but the espresso part is for the infrequent user. Do not buy this if you intend to make yourself a latte every once in a while.Overall I am disappointed in this product. I really liked it then it broke after light usage.
Hot Coffee machine This product makes very good coffee and excellent Cappuccino in part to reading the manual and following instructions Our only disappointment is that we must trim the paper #4 filter as it is about one quarter inch to tall and was catching along the top. This allowed the grounds to drain into the carafe. We now have it down and enjoy the unit very much.
Decent dual machine I don't need a timer/clock/etc but auto off would have been nice which is why I give it a 4 I looked at so many machines and their reviews that I completely forgot about the top review on this one before I hit purchase! But I've had good luck with Krups in the past so I kept coming back to this particular machine. There is a model that has auto off/clock/timer thoughI had a Krups espresso machine that I lost a part for on the steamer so I'm very excited to have another espresso machine again. There are a couple of updated features that make this machine better than the espresso machine I used to have the top to the carafe is attached you can steam milk without having to put a cap on the filter and the steamer doesn't have the little tiny part that I had lost so hopefully I won't lose anything this time aroundIt does take getting used to though to make a good mochachino. Fortunately I know owners of a coffee shop to get the proper extras advice and ground bean from. A metal container for the milk makes a world of difference on getting the right froth and temp. Even Star Buck has trouble getting mocha's hot.
